MILWAUKEE AND THE TALLEST WOODEN BUILDINGS IN THE WORLD

The tallest wooden building in the world stands at 86 meters and is located in Milwaukee, USA. Ascent features a concrete base, with the rest of the structure made from cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glued-laminated timber (GLT). It boasts 25 floors of luxurious apartments and commercial spaces.

A new project in the same city is set to surpass Ascent as the tallest wooden building in the world. The architectural firm behind the project has announced that the tower will have 55 floors, primarily constructed from solid wood, thick panels, compressed layers, and multi-layered solid wood.

The project is part of the revitalization of the Marcus Performing Arts Center, which opened in 1969 and received the Honor Award for Excellence in Architectural Design from the American Institute of Architects in 1970. The construction is estimated to cost around $700 million, and the plan is currently under review by the city.
