SWEDEN TO HAVE A CITY MADE OF WOOD

The Swedish construction company Atrium Ljungberg is leading the world’s largest urban wooden construction project. Stockholm Wood City, or Wood City, is being built in Sickla, south of Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and spans 250,000 square meters. The aim is to create a vibrant urban environment, blending workspaces, housing, restaurants, and shops. The company states: “Through innovative design, technology, and a strong collaborative culture, a new standard for sustainable construction is being established.” The project will feature 7,000 offices and 2,000 residences, with the first buildings expected to be completed by 2027.

 

Atrium Ljungberg is one of Sweden’s largest real estate companies, with around seventy developments totaling approximately 1 million square meters. This portfolio is valued at 48 billion Swedish kronor, equivalent to over USD 4.5 billion.
