PARAGUAY: PLYWOOD FACTORY RECEIVES PRESIDENTIAL VISIT

Accompanied by the head of the Paraguayan Federation of Woodworkers (Fepama), Manuel Jiménez Gaona, Paraguayan President Santiago Peña visited the facilities of the new Petricor plywood factory in Caazapá.

Biocomplejo Petricor S.A., located approximately 200 km from Asunción, represents an investment of US$ 8.5 million. The factory will be dedicated to producing eucalyptus plywood using raw materials from certified forestry plantations. With an installed capacity of 25,000 cubic meters per year, the factory is expected to begin operations in October. Production will be allocated 20% to the domestic market and 80% to export.

The presidential visit underscores the importance of the forestry sector on the Paraguayan government’s economic agenda.
